The Football synthesizer is my version of a west-coast synthesizer, inspired by Buchla, and borrowing the form-factor and very same housing of the infamous 'nuclear football'.
I drew inspiration from Buchla's small, wacky but powerful synth modules, then chose to take aesthetic influence from my test equipment collection, specifically my older Tektronix gear. This would pair nicely with the legend of the mythic nuclear football, the president's portable Halliburton briefcase containing the necessary controls to launch ICBMs.
I started by finding an actual Halliburton briefcase to use for the basic shape, I then took dimensions off of it and used these dimensions to change my initial panel designs.
This project is still underway.
